RFID Bus Card Collection 🚌
Thank you to all of our families for helping pilot our RFID bus card process this year. Great job, Bobcats! Because of your participation and feedback, we’ve been able to share valuable information with other elementary schools across the district.
As we wrap up the school year, we will be collecting all RFID bus cards so they can be reused next year. Reusing the cards helps both our budget and the environment, thank you for working with us through this process!
RFID cards will be collected on June 10th.
Each classroom will have a collection tub for bus riders to place their RFID items in.
Please return the following:
- RFID card/tag
- Plastic sleeve
- Retractable lanyard
If your student will not be at school on June 10th or during the remaining school days, please let the office know their last day of attendance so we can collect their RFID items then.
If your student has lost their RFID tag, please notify the office as soon as possible. This message only applies to bus riders who received RFID bus cards. If your student is parent pick-up or did not receive an RFID card, you may disregard this message.

A message from Nurse Bailey
Dear Families,
A letter was sent home in student backpacks regarding your student’s Individualized Health Plan (IHP). Please review the information carefully, make any necessary changes or updates, and return the paperwork to the health room as soon as possible.
If you have questions or would prefer to communicate directly, please contact me at langdon@skschools.org or through ParentSquare (Bailey Langdon).
Medication forms for the 2026–2027 school year were also sent home. Please have these forms completed by your student’s healthcare provider over the summer so they are ready for the start of the school year.
This is also a reminder that all current medications stored at school must be picked up by Thursday, June 12, 2026, at 4:00 PM. Any medications remaining after that time will be discarded according to district policy.
You may begin dropping off new medications and medication orders for the 2026–2027 school year starting August 24, 2026.
Additionally, please make sure your student’s immunizations are up to date before the new school year begins.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions and have a great summer!
Thank you,
Bailey Langdon

Dear South Colby Families,
As this school year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting with awe on the past six years serving as principal of South Colby Elementary. It has been the greatest honor — and certainly one of the biggest adventures — to be a part of the South Colby Family.
Over the years, I have watched students persevere through difficult moments, families extend grace and partnership, and staff members go above and beyond for kids every single day. While these six years have certainly not always been easy, they have been meaningful and incredibly rewarding. South Colby is a special place — not because the building is a quirky antique or because we always got everything right (because I know I didn't), but because the people here genuinely care about kids and about each other.
I will miss the daily moments that bring me joy: greeting students in the morning, hearing laughter in the hallways, seeing students learn to read, and witnessing their excitement to share what they've learned. Even the harder situations, while perhaps vexing in the moment, in reflection -- what an opportunity I was given. I deeply hope I have lived up to the responsibility.
Next year will bring a great deal of change to South Colby, and change can feel uncertain, but what I know for sure is this: the heart of South Colby will remain steady. The reason South Colby feels like a family school is not because of any one person. It is because this community continues to show up for one another. It is families volunteering at events, cheering students on, supporting classrooms, partnering with teachers, and investing in the school community together. It is the South Colby staff, who I have witnessed spending countless hours working for the improvement of learning, and who are truly a reflective and caring group of adults.
As I leave, my hope for all of you is that you lean into that spirit of connection and support. Show up for South Colby. Support our incredible PTSO because what they do for our building is absolutely amazing, and they need more help. Please give grace during the upcoming transitions, and support and celebrate the adults who pour their hearts into this school and your children every day. That community support is what will ensure that South Colby remains a special place for kids.
Thank you for trusting me with your children, and thank you for your support, your honesty, and your partnership over these past six years. Serving this community has changed me for the better, and I will carry South Colby with me wherever I go. If you ever need anything, please contact the South Colby Office, they’ll know how to reach me.
I wish all of our students and families a wonderful summer and all the very best in the future.
With gratitude,
Anna Munson
Principal
South Colby Elementary

Hello South Colby Community,
Spring is here, and summer is just around the corner! With that in mind, I thought it would be a great time to introduce myself. My name is Brad Thew, and I can say with confidence that the highlight of my year was learning that I was selected to be the next principal of South Colby.
Throughout the area, this school has a reputation for being a great place to learn and grow. No matter who I talk to, they inevitably have wonderful, glowing things to say about the school and the families who have called it home for the seventy years it has served this community.
I'm thankful for the trust the district and staff have placed in me, and I am especially thankful for the kindness Principal Munson has shown during this time of transition.
I know there will be many ways we celebrate this milestone in the school’s history, and I’m looking forward to writing new chapters with you all. I hope you all enjoy your summer, and I’m excited to meet all of you in the coming year!
With excitement and gratitude,
Brad Thew
South Colby Incoming Principal
